The YMCA is a world-wide not-for-profit community service organization with a special emphasis on community
development and young people. The YMCA's mission is building a healthy spirit, mind, and body and its motto
is "We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities".
Many YMCAs have swimming pools and fitness centers, along with facilities for playing various sports such as
basketball, volleyball, and racquetball. From child care to older adult fitness, Youth in Government to camp and aquatics,
YMCAs offer opportunities for individuals and families to grow in spirit, mind and body at every life stage.
Each YMCA is different. Every YMCA makes its own decisions on what programs to offer and how to operate.
Membership costs and hours of operation also vary. You can locate your nearest YMCA at their website (see above).
